How to Convert and Copy DVD Movies to PSP

Now that the Sony PSP is out they're now selling UMD movies. Most of the movies I already have in my DVD movie collection, however. Is there any way that I can convert or copy the DVD movies to a memory stick duo for Sony PSP? If so how can to do it?

Hardware

OS - Windows XP, 2000, NT, 98, ME
CPU - A Pentium II 300 MMX or equivalent as a minimum
DVD Drive - DVD-R(W)/+R(W) Drive
Memory (RAM) - At least 64meg memory
Hard Drive - with at least 4 gb, but preferably 8 gb FREE space in one partition
Sony Memory Stick - At least a 512 MB Pro Duo Card, If you only want to watch 5-10min movies, the 32 MB stick will be fine. :)
USB Cable - PSP USB Cable

Getting Started:

Recommend Software : PSP Movie Creator

Convert Video AVI, MPEG, MOV, WMV, RM, RMVB, MPG etc. to Sony PSP MP4

1. Download PSP Movie Creator from BestShareware.net

2. Load the video file you plan to convert by choosing "File -> Open Video File" menu or clicking "Open -> Open File" button. PSP Movie Creator will then start playing the movie in the preview window.

3. Set converting mode
By default, you will convert the whole video file to your PSP. If you only want to convert a part, please drag the video playback controls to set "start point" and "stop point".

4. Start converting
Click "Record it" to start converting video files to your PSP. The conversion speed is fast. If you like, you can set output location, file size and movie quality. The MP4 file converted can be played with Quicktime Player. It is a freeware, can be download at apple.com site.

5. Transfer PSP video files
Please follow the steps mentioned below in "How to Convert DVD to PSP MP4".

The trial version of PSP Movie Creator can only convert 5-minutes video files, you can get the full version from bestshareware.net.

Convert DVD to Sony PSP MP4
1. Download PSP Movie Creator from BestShareware.net

2. Insert the DVD you want to converting, and then load DVD by choosing "File -> Open DVD" menu or clicking "Open -> Open DVD" button. The software will then start playing the movie in the preview window..

3. Set DVD Ripping mode.
Rip the whole DVD to PSP: Keep the default value, that is to say, "start point" is 0:00, "stop point" is the total time of the DVD movie.

Rip by chapters: Choose any chapter from the "Chapters" menu.

Rip just partial segment: Drag the video playback controls to set "start point" and "stop point".

4. Set movie quality and size.
You can set the output file size by changing audio quality and video quality.

5. Start converting DVD to PSP
Click "Record it" to start converting DVD to PSP MP4 video. The conversion speed is fast. If you like, set output location by choosing "File -> Set Output Folder" before ripping. The MP4 file ripped can be played with Quicktime Player.

Connect PSP to your pc using a USB cable. In your PSP, press "USB Connectivity" menu. If you use a memory card reader to transfer the video file, please connect your memory card reader to the PC.

In your PSP, Create a folder called "MP_ROOT" and inside that folder create another folder named "100MNV01".
In PSP Movie Creator, click "PSP Video Transfer" menu or "Transfer to PSP" button. You will see an explorer window that lists MP4 (video) files and THM (video thumbnail) files on both your PC and PSP. You can transfer files by drag & drop them to "\MP_ROOT\100MNV01".

Note: The PSP video files' name must be "M4Vxxxxx.MP4". "M" and "V" should be capital. There would be five random numbers followed "M4V". The numbers must be same for .MP4 file and the corresponding .THM file. This is quite important, or your file can not be played on sony PSP.
